Our exams and adjustments for infants and children are extremely safe and gentle. While the premise of how chiropractic works is the same, the implementation of care is very different than for adults.
Dr. Kristen is great at putting kids at ease. She shows them how the adjusting instrument works and lets them play with the drop table, so they can see for themselves that they’re not scary and they don’t hurt. We have toys they can play with if they’re nervous, and we can adjust them in whatever way works best for them—laying on Mom or Dad, sitting up, even while they’re playing.
We encourage moms to bring their new babies in for a checkup and adjustment as soon as possible after birth so we can restore alignment that is often affected during the birthing process. When their spine is properly aligned, their nervous system works optimally from the start and can help prevent things like colic or reflux from occurring.
If your child plays sports—particularly contact sports—we suggest they come in for care regularly. Maintenance care can help them function optimally, which reduces the risk of injury. And if they are injured, regular chiropractic care helps them heal quicker.
